NRFI Picks Today: Rox Will Flop Again?

It’s Tuesday, June 4, and I’m going split decision on the run-scoring market tonight. First, I’m firing on a YRFI in the Rockies game, where Kyle Freeland can’t seem to buy a clean first inning. Then I’m flipping the script with a trusted NRFI behind Cincinnati’s ace lefty Andrew Abbott.

YRFI Pick Today: Rockies vs Marlins (-120 at Sportsbook)

Rockies vs Marlins Odds – 12:10 p.m. ET

This YRFI bet hinges on one man: Kyle Freeland.

The Rockies southpaw has been dreadful in the opening frame, coughing up 21 hits and nine earned runs in just 12 first innings this season. That’s a 9.00 ERA, folks. It’s no fluke either. Freeland’s command has been spotty, and opponents are slugging against him like it’s batting practice. Pair that with the Rockies' dismal rotation, which often puts them behind early, and you get a recipe for first-inning fireworks.

Colorado ranks fourth with a 35-26 YRFI record, per our NRFI betting trends page, making this an ideal spot to fire on an early run.

NRFI Pick Today: Brewers vs Reds (-104 at Sportsbook)

Brewers vs Reds Odds – Game Time: 12:40 p.m. ET

Now to the other side of the coin, where I’m locking in an NRFI between the Brewers and Reds.

Andrew Abbott has been nails early in games, carrying a perfect 9–0 NRFI record into this one. His command has been sharp, he rarely allows hard , and he's been particularly dominant in first innings. On the other side, Milwaukee sends out DL Hall, a wild card with limited starts this year, but he's yet to allow a first-inning run.

Helping Hall’s case? The Reds rank just 22nd in MLB with a .638 OPS against lefties, meaning this isn’t the most dangerous matchup for the young southpaw.

At near-even odds, this NRFI is worth the shot.
