Gone are the days when Americans needed to hop on a plane and head to Las Vegas to legally wager on a game. States have been legalizing sports betting one-by-one since 2018 when the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the bill (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act) that previously banned sports wagering.

Today, 38 states and Washington D.C. allow sports betting of some kind. Some states offer only in-person betting, some offer only online betting, while others allow both.
